Saarland University in Saarbrücken has appointed Dr Franz-Jörg Semler, partner at CMS Hasche Sigle, as honorary professor. He has been lecturing in commercial law at the University’s Faculty of Law and Economics in an external capacity since 2005. Born in Berlin in 1942, Prof. Semler studied law in Tübingen and Munich, obtained his doctorate in Munich and completed an MBA at INSEAD in Fontainebleau. Semler has been a lawyer since 1971 and a partner since 1981 (initially with Stuttgart-based law firm Sigle Loose Schmidt-Diemitz, which became part of CMS Hasche Sigle in 1999). His key specialist areas include stock corporation law, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), agency and authorised dealer law, as well as international arbitration
