The international law firm Bryan Cave LLP announced today that Paul Huey-Burns has joined the firm’s Washington, D.C., office as a partner. Huey-Burns will practice with the firm’s Securities Litigation & Enforcement and White Collar Defense & Investigations Client Service Groups. “The addition of Paul to our Washington office provides us with additional depth in a key market and practice area,” said Don Lents, chairman of Bryan Cave. “Paul enhances our ability to represent businesses and individuals in investigations being conducted by the SEC and other reinvigorated financial regulators. He also will help us to counsel clients on the unique challenges they are facing as new regulations and oversight measures are being enacted.” Huey-Burns concentrates his practice on defending companies and individuals in investigations by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Department of Justice, securities regulatory bodies and Congress. He also provides counsel on matters such as corporate compliance and governance and internal investigations. Huey-Burns currently is defending clients in investigations concerning the sub-prime mortgage industry and the structuring of credit swaps. Prior to entering the private sector 12 years ago, he served as an attorney at the SEC from 1986 until 1998, including seven years as assistant director in the Division of Enforcement. The author of numerous publications on SEC enforcement issues, Huey-Burns is a frequent speaker at seminars. He is a member of and serves on the securities and corporate law committees of the American Bar Association and the District of Columbia Bar Association. He received his J.D. in 1982 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and his B.A. in 1978 from Johns Hopkins University.
