International legal practice DLA Piper today announced that it has appointed a 19-lawyer team from Simmons & Simmons, which includes four partners. Partners Nino Lombardo, Francesco Aleandri, Rodolfo Errore and Ernesto Apuzzo, together with 15 other lawyers, will significantly enhance the capabilities of DLA Piper's existing 100-strong lawyer practice operating from Milan and Rome.
Corporate and M&A partner Nino Lombardo advises on a broad range of matters including private equity and venture capital, particularly in the telecoms sector. He also has significant experience in banking, advising companies and banks on financial restructurings and distressed M&A transactions. Nino, who was head of Corporate at Simmons & Simmons, will jointly lead DLA Piper's Corporate practice with Wolf Michael Kuhne, working from both Milan and Rome.
Francesco Aleandri, a capital markets specialist, advises on listings on the Italian main market and AIM Italian and secondary placements. His practice also includes traditional M&A transactions. Francesco will lead the equity capital markets team within the Corporate practice.
Rodolfo Errore has considerable experience advising sponsors, contractors and lenders in project finance transactions. Over the past 10 years he worked extensively on projects in the energy, utilities, health and infrastructure sectors, notably the project financing of the port Syracuse where Rodolfo advised BNL and the financing of a water system built by GORI where he advised BIIS. Rodolfo will head DLA Piper's project finance department in Italy.
Ernesto Apuzzo specialises in restructurings and advises distressed Italian and foreign companies, banks and funds. He has significant experience advising financial institutions in the purchase or the management of non-performing loans.
The four partners will join DLA Piper with the following fee earners: Federico Cocito, Alessandra Dima, Silvia Fappani, Francesco Gallo, Massimino Lo Conte, Matteo Mancinelli, Ludovico Mannini, Celeste Mellone, Maria Palandrani, Michela Palombi, Marcella Rendo, Lorenza Rosica, Margherita Spallanzani, Stefano Sartori and Laura Tutinelli.
"The arrival of Nino, Francesco, Rodolfo, Ernesto and their colleagues is an important step towards our vision to be one of the leading players in the Italian market, said Federico Sutti, Regional Managing Partner of DLA Piper Italy.
Federico continued: "Their arrival will complement our existing capabilities and enhance our client offering in the areas of corporate, restructuring, capital markets and project finance. I look forward to welcoming them to DLA Piper."
