International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has elected Marzio Longo to the role of Italy managing partner, effective 1 May 2009. Marzio replaces Professor Raffaele Lener who will remain as co-managing partner for a transitional period and assume specific responsibilities for the Rome office. Based in Milan, Marzio Longo is the head of Freshfields’ Italian Real Estate group and active in the fields of M&A and contract law. He has advised on several significant cross-border and domestic transactions involving the acquisition, disposal and letting (including long term leases and lease-back structures) of large scale retail, office and logistic portfolios. He has also assisted major investment and corporate clients in the development of real estate projects and, in this context, he has also been active in the negotiation of turn-key construction contracts.
