Clifford Chance announced today that leading tax specialist Carlo Galli is to join the firm as a partner on 8 January 2009. Carlo Galli joins from Maisto e Associati and will establish a tax practice for Clifford Chance in Italy. He joins the global tax practice of Clifford Chance which numbers over 200 tax specialists worldwide. Clifford Chance's managing partner for Italy Charles Adams commented: " Carlo Galli has a deep knowledge and broad experience of the Italian tax system. He has a strong reputation in the market and brings a thorough understanding of clients' commercial and strategic objectives to the technical practice of law." David Harkness, global head of tax for Clifford Chance commented: "It has been a long held ambition for us to have our own Italian tax practice. Carlo Galli is the right person to build that for us. This will complete our European tax practice which now covers all the major EU jurisdictions and will enable us fully to meet the needs of our clients for tax advice." Carlo Galli graduated from Milan's Bocconi University with a degree in Business Administration. He joined Maisto e Associati in 1995.
