Slaughter and May, as an integrated team with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, is advising GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) on the acquisition of the Egyptian mature products business of Bristol Myers Squibb for $210 million (£125 million). As a result of the acquisition, GSK will become the leading pharmaceutical company in Egypt with a market share of approximately 9%. GSK will acquire 20 branded produces that occupy leading market positions in four therapeutic disease areas in Egypt. The acquisition was announced on 15 October, 2008.
