International law firm Eversheds has advised on the administration of Willis Gambier, a British furniture importer and supplier of premium-quality furniture to major national and independent retailers such as John Lewis and House of Fraser. Eversheds advised the Bank of Scotland and PricewaterhouseCoopers in which it achieved a sale to Chinese Manufacturer Lacquer Craft, that has saved around 130 jobs. The deal included advice from Eversheds’ restructuring, real estate and employment teams. Byron Nurse, a restructuring partner at international law firm Eversheds led the team and comments: “The retail sector is under great pressure at the moment. The Eversheds’ restructuring team focused on preserving value, jobs and continuity of supply which was the priority for the substantial high street retailers that formed the customer base of the business. We are pleased to have been part of the rescue, which required a quick turnaround.”
