Reiko Sakimura to join Clifford Chance partnership in Tokyo
Leading global law firm Clifford Chance has announced that Reiko Sakimura is to join its capital markets practice in Tokyo. Widely recognised as one of the leading international capital markets lawyers in Japan, Reiko will join Clifford Chance after completing her notice period at her current firm. "We are delighted to have attracted a lawyer of Reiko's calibre to our thriving Asian capital markets practice," said David Dunnigan, Global Head of Capital Markets at Clifford Chance. "She combines a world-class private practice career with practical financial markets experience, and her skills and reputation will be an asset to both the continued growth of our practice in Asia and to the firm's Tokyo office." "Reiko has an enviable track record in debt and equity capital market products, particularly in public convertible bonds," said Peter Kilner, Tokyo office managing partner and head of capital markets for the firm in Japan. "She has worked with most of the domestic and international issuers in the Tokyo market, and we are delighted that she will be bringing that experience to our team at Clifford Chance." A Japanese native, Reiko Sakimura was educated at the University of Cambridge, is admitted in England & Wales, and is a member of the New York bar. Fluent in Japanese and English, she joined Linklaters as a trainee in London in 1993, transferring to that firm's Tokyo office in 1997. In 2000, she joined UBS Warburg as a director in the bank's Tokyo investment banking division, rising to executive director. In 2004, she rejoined Linklaters, and was appointed partner in 2005.
